etc. interactive is looking for a Senior Gameplay Programmer to take a leading role in shaping our extraction-style first-person shooter. You will be responsible for architecting and implementing complex gameplay systems, ensuring networking viability in a high-stakes competitive environment, and driving technical excellence across the project. As a senior member of the team, you will tackle our most pressing and interesting challenges as we prepare for our upcoming alpha launch.
Responsibilities
· Architect, develop, and maintain robust and scalable gameplay systems in Unreal Engine
· Lead the implementation of multiplayer features, ensuring tight, responsive networking and optimized server-client replication
· Collaborate with the technical director to integrate AWS hosting infrastructure and dedicated server logic
· Work intimately with game design to translate creative visions into technically feasible, high performance features
· Profile, optimize, and debug complex systems to maintain target frame rates and server tick rates
· Mentor junior programmers, conduct code reviews, and establish coding standards and best practices for the studio
Qualifications
· 3+ years of professional game development experience as a programmer, with at least one shipped title (preferably in the shooter or multiplayer space)
· Expert-level knowledge of C++ and extensive professional experience utilizing Unreal Engine
· Deep understanding of multiplayer network programming, prediction, and replication in Unreal Engine
· Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and dedicated game server deployment is highly desirable
· Proven ability to architect complex, interconnected game systems (e.g., inventory, ballistics, AI, state machines)
· Self-motivated with strong leadership qualities and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical team members
Location
This is a hybrid role based out of our New York City studio. Candidates must be located in, or willing to relocate to, the NYC metro area.

Compensation
The expected base salary range for this position is $110,000 to $150,000 per year (+ equity). The actual compensation offered will be determined in good faith based on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and skills.
